Research use and intended-use limits

Research reagents are for laboratory and in-vitro research only. Not for human use.

Research reagents are not supplied as medicines and must not be used for diagnosis, treatment, prevention, clinical procedures or self-medication. Product information must not be used as administration or dosing guidance.

For accessories and consumables, follow their own specifications and documented intended use.

Description

Thymosin Alpha 1 is a 28-amino-acid peptide immunomodulator extracted from the thymus or produced synthetically, and is a key member of the thymosin family (trade name examples include Zadaxin). It mimics the hormone naturally secreted by the human thymus and exerts its effects by modulating immune system function. It has been approved as a prescription drug in more than 30 countries worldwide, primarily for disorders associated with immunodeficiency. In research and compounding settings, it is also widely used for immune support and adjunctive therapy. This content is intended for research and reference purposes only and should not be construed as medical advice.

Effects

Immunomodulation: Enhances T cell maturation, differentiation and function, promotes NK cell and dendritic cell activity, and balances the Th1/Th2 immune response. Antiviral: Adjunctive treatment of chronic hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV and other viral infections, improving antiviral efficacy. Antitumor adjunct: Enhances immune surveillance and serves as an adjunct to cancer chemotherapy/radiotherapy, improving patient tolerability. Other effects: Improves immunosuppressive states (e.g., post-surgical, age-related immune decline), supports anti-infection defense, reduces inflammation, and may aid recovery from COVID-19 or other respiratory infections. Characteristics: Bidirectional immunomodulation (both enhancing immunity and suppressing excessive immune responses), with a favorable safety profile.

Usage

Route of administration: subcutaneous injection (SC), typically in the abdominal or thigh area. Reference dosing (commonly used in clinical practice; follow physician's instructions): Standard dose: 1.6 mg per administration, twice weekly. Treatment course: Typically 6 months for viral hepatitis and similar conditions; short-term use (e.g., 4 weeks) for adjunctive therapy. Research/immune support: 0.8–6.4 mg per administration, adjusted according to body weight and clinical condition. Reconstitution: Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with the supplied saline or bacteriostatic water. May be used alone or in combination with other immune/antiviral agents.

Not suitable for

Use with caution in patients with autoimmune diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis), as it may exacerbate the condition. Use in pregnant women, nursing mothers and children requires strict evaluation. Patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy should consult a physician. Monitoring of immune parameters and liver function is recommended during use.

Questions about Thymosin alpha 1

What is the intended use of Thymosin alpha 1?

Research reagents are intended solely for laboratory and in-vitro research. Suitability for a particular experiment must be assessed using the exact specification and available documentation. Accessories and consumables must be used according to their own specifications and documented intended use.

Can research reagents be used by or administered to people?

No. Research reagents are not for human use, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, clinical procedures or self-medication. A research-use label does not authorize use in people.

How can I verify the identity of Thymosin alpha 1?

No CAS number is published on this page. Do not infer the material's identity from its name. Request identification details and documentation for the exact product from the supplier.

Is a certificate of analysis (COA) available for Thymosin alpha 1?

No COA is currently published on this page in the selected language. Ask the supplier about documents for the exact batch before use; availability is not guaranteed. A COA does not establish safety for human use or medical approval.

Does a purity result or COA establish safety for human use?

No. A reported purity result describes the sample and test recorded in the document. It does not establish safety for human use, clinical suitability or medical approval. Review the method, batch identity and relevant specifications for your laboratory work.

How should Thymosin alpha 1 be stored and handled?

The storage information published for this product is: Before reconstitution (lyophilized powder): Store frozen at -20°C for long-term storage; short-term storage at room temperature is acceptable (protect from light and moisture). After reconstitution: Store refrigerated (2–8°C); use within 2–7 days is recommended. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and exposure to high temperatures.. Confirm the batch-specific storage and handling instructions with the supplier before receipt and use.

Does an available shipping option mean the product can be imported?

No. A shipping quote at checkout is not import authorization. Before ordering, verify whether the exact product and quantity are admissible at the destination and what purchasing, import, documentation and use requirements apply.

What should I confirm before procurement?

Match the SKU, specification and batch or lot identifier to your research requirements. Request any required COA and safety documentation and confirm availability before ordering; documents are not guaranteed to be available. Also verify applicable requirements at the destination.
