
Triptorelln Acetate
Description
Triptorelin Acetate is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist, a decapeptide compound that is an analog of natural GnRH. Clinically, it initially stimulates the pituitary to release LH/FSH, followed by downregulation (desensitization) of the pituitary-gonadal axis, thereby significantly reducing the levels of sex hormones (testosterone or estrogen) in the body. Common brand names include Decapeptyl, Diphereline, Trelstar, Triptodur, etc. Both short-acting and long-acting sustained-release formulations are available. Effects
Prostate cancer: Reduces testosterone levels, controlling hormone-dependent tumor growth (chemical castration). Central Precocious Puberty (CPP): Suppresses premature pubertal development. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART): Prevents premature LH surge, optimizing ovulation induction. Endometriosis, uterine fibroids: Lowers estrogen levels, alleviating symptoms. Others: Sometimes used in hormone modulation for breast cancer, gender dysphoria, etc.
Usage
Route of administration: Subcutaneous (SC) or intramuscular (IM) injection. Long-acting formulations may be given once monthly, every 3 months, or every 6 months. Reference dosage (must strictly follow medical advice): Prostate cancer: Commonly 3.75 mg/month or 11.25 mg/3 months. Precocious puberty: Based on body weight, usually once monthly. ART: Daily 0.1 mg short-acting formulation.
Not suitable for
Contraindicated during pregnancy (harmful to the fetus). Use with caution in patients with history of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, or psychiatric disorders. Regular monitoring of hormone levels, bone density, blood glucose, etc., is required during use. Do not discontinue abruptly; follow medical advice.
